"You’ll never be pushed beyond your comfort-only gently invited toward your own freedom." -Carmen, IN
Our bodies are the vehicle through which we experience the world. It is the first place that decisions are made, where our actions and reactions are centered, and where we shape our own understanding of ourselves. Before our brains even get to fully understand our situations, our bodies can make choices for us. If you find yourself thinking and ruminating but struggling to take action or regulate your emotions under stress, somatics might be helpful to you. If you’re looking to more deeply embody your values and longings, then somatic coaching might be the tool you’ve been looking for.
Somatic coaching is not therapy; though you may find it therapeutic. Working from a body centered approach, somatic coaching is a process that we embark on together. We create space for reflection and self knowledge. We build practices designed to increase personal agency over your actions, reactions, and internal narratives. In one-on-one or group sessions we use play, conversation, breath, movement, reflective practices, and other tools to move towards embodying who we want to be, wholly.
You may find somatic coaching helpful if…
You know better, but you can’t seem to do better.
-
You’ve had some therapy or know your issues, but need help setting goals and moving past internal blocks.
-
You are looking for tools for emotional regulation, stress management, or reducing a feeling of overwhelm.
-
You feel disconnected from self and want to find ways to be more embodied.
-
You’re facing a threshold in your life and want support and guidance as you transform into your new role(s).
-
You want to build a practice that enhances your own well being and connection to your deepest longings.
Somatic Coaching can help you...
be more in tune with your body, including finding ways to deal with chronic distresses like pain or anxiety.
transform internal narratives, patterns of trauma, and embodied reactions that no longer serve you.
grow your capacities to show up for what matters to you.
know your needs and limits and be able to set clear boundaries.
develop tools to help regulate your nervous system, especially in times of stress.
cultivate your capacities to flow through a full range of emotions, sensations, thoughts, experiences, and life events.
create internal resources to call on in times of need.
Your task is not to seek for love,
But merely to seek and find all the barriers
Within yourself that you have built against it.

and i said to my body softly
i want to be your friend.
it took a long breath
and replied
‘i have been waiting my
whole life for this’

About Annie
I am a coach, educator, and somatic practitioner. My work is focused on how we share space with others and create space for ourselves. My background is in public health, creating greater ease of access for patients; the arts, as a producer and a performer; and in education, as a primary school teacher with a specialty in social emotional development. I have decades of experience helping people of all ages navigate difficult systems, find joy and connection through creativity, and learn how to fully develop their own sense of empowered and embodied self.
My pedagogy is rooted in trauma informed care, transformative justice models, generative somatics, cooperative practices, and developmental psychology. I am interested in helping folks work through lived and intergenerational traumas, dissociation, harmful or dysregulating patterns, relationship issues, and identity exploration. I am focused on how to bring joy, connection, and magic into our lives through knowing ourselves fully. I am dedicated to helping my clients find practices that allow them to connect to their deepest longings, to find ways to regulate and manage their emotions, and build capacity to deal with a world that can make it difficult to thrive.
